The only way to sterilize soil is to bake it above 140F. We are unable to do that with the quantities that we are dealing with. If you require sterilized soil, it can be purchased at Garden Centres in bags.

FOR BULK: A full tandem load is approximately 10-12 yards depending on the product (gravel weighs more than soil). FOR BAGS: Depending on the product weight, we can carry 6-8 bags of multiple types of products.

We always prefer to arrange delivery at a time when you will be home, however we are certainly able to dump on a spot that you have marked out or described to us. We can take a credit card over the phone and email you the receipt.

Delivery varies so it's a bit tough to list on the website. In general delivery is between $90 - $150 for areas close to us. However we can deliver anywhere but we will need to get information from you regarding your location so give us a call. As for picking up - yes, you can at our Landscape Yard when we are open. A yard is a volume measurement, not a weight measurement. It is the amount of product that fits into a space that is 1 yard x 1 yard x 1 yard. The back of the average 1/2 ton pickup truck holds around 1 1/2 to 2 yards loose. BAGS: Each bag will hold 1 yard.

At the Landscape Yard - weather permitting, we are able to load Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. On Saturdays, we are available from 9 AM until 3 PM. We are completely closed on Sundays & the July/August/September long weekends.

Severe wind and/or lots of rain can shut us down for products from our pile. However, sometimes we are able to deliver gravel on rainy days. Please just call if you’re not sure.

Road bans are weight restrictions that the MD puts on the roads in the spring as the frost is coming out of the ground. If you live outside of town, just watch for a sign that has a dump truck on it somewhere along your road. If there is a ban, it will have another smaller sign underneath with a percentage marked. Most commonly, you will see 90% and 75%. The MD determines when those bans can be removed. There are serious fines for overloading the roads so we are generally aware of the road bans.

Our garden mixes and boost have peat moss blended into them. Peat moss has some amazing qualities - one of which is that it tends to be hydrophobic until it's good and soaked. If you sprinkle dry peat moss on top of water it will just float until it can absorb that water. Once it does it increases significantly in size and it's ability to hold water also increases dramatically. Keep giving it lots to drink and provide swales to hold the water in place so it can't run off until you are happy with the moisture content in the soil!
